THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING COOPERATIVE SCRIPT TO IMPROVE READING COMPREHENSION ABILITY AT THE EIGHT GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP N 23 PURWOREJO IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2012/ 2013

Abstract


The objective of this research is to find out the effectiveness of using Cooperative Script method for teaching narrative text on the eight grade students of SMP N 23 Purworejo. The writer use experimental research. One class was experimental group (31 students) and the other was control group (31 students) So, the number of sample were 62 students. The test consists of 30 items as instrument of the research . The researcher had given pre-test before she taught the students reading by using Cooperative Script, and the researcher gave post-test after she had taught the students reading by using Cooperative Script.Stasistically, the researcher analyzed the data by using t-test. Based on the computation, the mean score of experimental group was 77.41 and the mean of control group was 65.96. The t-value was consulted to the t-table at the 0.05 significance level. It showed that the t-table is 2.00 and the t-value was 6.77
