THE MAIN CHARACTER’S MOTIVATION TO GIVE EDUCATION IN THREE CUPS OF TEA

Abstract

The subject of the research is the book “Three Cups of Tea”, while the object is focused on the main character of this book. This research is categorized into library research, since all the data sources are taken from the library collection and other sources. The data in this research are collected through critical reading and documentation. Data analyzed method used by the researcher is descriptive analysis method. In analyzing the data, the object was analyzed by using psychological approach. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The technique is stated by using some quotations, statements, and explanations. The research findings are as follows; the characters in this book are many characters, but the researcher focuses to analyze and describe the main character. The characteristics of the main character come from the physiological, sociological, and psychological aspects. The motivations of the main character are to help people in Korphe in getting better education, to repay service of people in Korphe, to fulfill his promise, from Tara Bishop as his wife, from Haji Ali as the leader of Korphe, from Jean Hoerni as a successful scientist and avid mountain climber, from Tom Brokaw as the donor, and from Dr. Thomas Rae Vaughan as a supported the American Himalayan Foundation.
