CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT USED BY THE MAIN CHARACTER IN DANGEROUS MINDS FILM

Abstract


The objectives of this study is to find the classroom management approach and techniques, the obstacles faced by teacher in classroom management and the effort to overcome the obstacles of classroom management in Dangerous Minds Film. The researcher used descriptive qualitative as a research design. The main data source in this study is the Dangerous Minds film. In collecting the data, the researcher used documentation study. The researcher analyzed the dialog and narration of the film. The result of study showed that the classroom management technique used by the teacher in the film is curative classroom management. The obstacles of classroom management in the film are the lack of facilities from the school, Emilio, the most powerful student in the classroom and the rule of the school that not allow the pregnant girl to continue her study. The teacher’s efforts in overcoming obstacles of classroom management in the film are:  (1) Ms. LouAnne copied by herself the material for her student. (2) Ms. LouAnne used poetry as a teaching media. (3) Ms. LouAnne tried to get Emilio attention by get involved in Emilio’s problem, (4) Ms. LouAnne asked the principle assistent to change the rule that not allow the pregnant student to continue her study.
