The Effectiveness of Using CSR Technique to Improve Reading Comprehension in Recount Text to the Eighth Grade Students of SMP N 7 Purworejo in the Academic Year 2012/2013
Abstract
The objective of the study is to describe the effectiveness of using CSR technique to teach reading recount text to the eighth grade students of SMP N 7 Purworejo. The researcher used quasi experimental research. The sample of this study is class A as experimental group that consist of 32, and B class as control group that consists of 30 students. The instrument used in collecting the data is the test. The result of the study showed that the students’ progress of experimental group in mastering reading ability was really good. With degree of freedom (df) 60 and the level significance 5% t- table was 1.671. It meant that t- test value was higher than t- table (3.89>1.671). In order words, the use of CSR technique was effective to improve students reading ability in recount text to eighth grade of SMP N 7 Purworejo in Academic Year 2012/2013.
