THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING PRACTICE AND C-R (CONSCIOUSNESS-RAISING) METHOD IN TEACHING SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE TO THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 1 GOMBONG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2012/2013

Abstract


In this thesis, the researcher tries to find out whether there is any effectiveness in using Practice and C-R (Consciousness-Raising) method in teaching Simple Present Tense. The population of this research is the tenth grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Gombong in the academic year of 2012/2013. The number of sample is 56 from the total population 98. To collect the data, the researcher uses  a test. The researcher taught Simple Present Tense using Practice and C-R (Consciousness-Raising) method as a treatment. After analyzing the data, the reseacher concludes that the computation of  t-value is 4.34. Based on the 0.05 significant levels, the value of t-table is 2.005. The result of computation show that the method used is effective. It is shown by the mean of experimental group that is higher than the mean of control group. In the experimental group, the mean is 76. On the contrary, the mean of control group is 65.29. Based on the result finding, it can be conluded that the use of Practice and C-R (Consciousness-Raising) method in teaching Simple Present Tense is effective.
