AN ANALYSIS OF THE STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION IN UNDERSTANDING ENGLISH LESSON AND THEIR EFFORT TO IMPROVE LEARNING OUTCOME AT TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA N 1 KARANGSAMBUNG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2012/2013

Abstract


In this research, the researcher is intented to know how is the students’motivation to understand the English lessonand teacher motivate especially on the tenth grade students of State Senior High School 1 Karangsambung  in the academic year 2012/2013.To describe ways of theteacher to motivate the students tounderstand English lesson on the tenth grade students of State Senior High School 1 Karangsambung in the academic year 2012/2013.In collecting data, the researher uses observation, interview, and questionnaire. They are 24 students for sample to take questionnaire and English teacher to take information about motivation.  This research is designed as descriptive qualitative. The conclusion is based on the analysis of the data;its presentation is suitable to the formulation of the problem presented in chapter I. Therefore, this is three point of conclusion. The students motivation in understanding English, which the data obtained by conducting the questionnaire, show that the highest score is 100, and the lowest score is 73. As it has been stated in previous chapter, the mean of students’ motivation is 88.50 categorized as very high. Their effort to understand in English Lesson, the students’ always open dictionary to know meaning of word or sentences , and the teacher motivate to students use point method to teach English Lesson in the classroom.
