THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING PICTURE TO IMPROVE HEARING-IMPAIRED STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILL: A CASE STUDY AT THE EIGHTH GRADE OF SEKOLAH LUAR BIASA PUTRA PERTIWI KEBUMEN IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2012/2013
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to know whether there is any effectiveness of using picture in teaching writing skill to the eighth grade of the Sekolah Luar Biasa Putra Pertiwi Kebumen in the academic year 2012/2013. In this research, the researcher took 8 students of the eighth grade of Sekolah Luar Biasa Putra Pertiwi Kebumen in the academic year 2012/2013 as the population and sample using purposive sampling technique. The researcher conducted pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The researcher uses picture to teach writing. Statically, the researcher analyzed the data by using t-test. The result of this research found that the use of Picture to improve Hearing-Impaired Students’ Writing Skill is effective. As the fact, the result of t-value is 4.81 based on 0.05 significance level, the value of t-table 1.895, the computation shows that t-value is higher than t-table that is 4.81>1.895. So, it can be stated that the alternative hypothesis “the use of picture to improve writing skill on the students of eighth grade of Sekolah Luar Biasa Putra Pertiwi Kebumen in the academic year 2012/2013 is effective.
