THE EFFECT OF THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE OF THE ENGLISH TEACHER TOWARDS STUDENTS’ LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT OF ENGLISH IN SMA N 1 MIRIT IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2012/2013
Abstract
The research is descriptive research. The aim of the research is to know the influence of Positive attitude of the English teacher toward students’ learning achievement of English at SMA N 1 Mirit in academic year 2012/2013. The sample of this research is XI grade of sciences 1 consist of 30 students. The researcher uses random sampling The researcher used the questionnaire and the documentation score of second semester to get the data. To test the hypothesis the researcher use the pearson’s product moment. The result of this research shows that the Positive attitude is one of the factor in learning achievement, especially in learn foreign language. Teacher attitude is very important, especially at the beginning in learn English. A positive attitude often leads learners to use a variety of learning strategies that can facilitate skill development in language learning. The positive attitude of the English teacher in SMA N 1 Mirit is sufficient and the correlation between the positive attitude of the English teacher toward students’ learning achievement of English is high. It shows from the result of the mean score is 81.17. And the result of student’s learning achievement of English is good. It shows from the 30 students of eleventh grade that the final score of second semester is as follow the mean score was 71.13. The researcher gets the 0.778 as the result of correlation is high.
