THE COMPARISON OF STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT BETWEEN ACCOMPLISHING AMERICAN AND BRITISH ENGLISH LISTENING TESTS AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA N 1 MOJOTENGAH WONOSOBO IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2012/2013

Abstract


This research is aimed to find out the comparison of students achievement between accomplishing American and British English listening tests. The researcher took 25 samples of eleventh grade students of SMA N 1 Mojotengah, Wonosobo in the academic year of 2012/2013. She conducted a test using a set of listening test with two kinds of English namely American and British English. The answer was being measured and analyzed by comparing the American and British English listening score. The researcher also interviewed the teacher and the students to get the data. Result of this research shows that there was significant differences between American and British English listening test since the result of t-test was higher than t-value (3.44>2.06). Not only that, the researcher also found that the mean score of American is higher than British English listening test (86.96>80.04). It means that the students were easier in accomplishing American than British English listening test.
