THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING TABLE-TOP PUPPETRY TO IMPROVE PRONUNCIATION IN SPEAKING
Abstract
This final project was a study to examine the effectiveness of using Table-top Puppetry to improve pronunciation in speaking. The objectives of the study are: (1) to know the level of the pronunciation in speaking after being taught by using Table-top Puppetry; (2) to find out whether the use of Table-top Puppetry is effective or not to improve pronunciation in speaking at the first grade students of SMP N 6 Purworejo. This research is classified as an experimental research design because in doing experimental, the researcher needs treatment to compare the result of the pre-test and the post-test. The result of the test showed that the mean of experimental group was 74.93. Meanwhile, the t-test or t-value obtained is 3.89. Since t-value is higher than t-table (3.89>2.00), the hypothesis is accepted. Based on the result, the pronunciation in speaking has improved after being taught by Table-top Puppetry and Table-Top Puppetry was more effective for teaching pronunciation in speaking for the first grade students of Junior High School, especially the first grade students of SMP N 6 Purworejo in the academic year of 2012/2013.
