THE ANALYSIS OF FEMINISM IN ENOLA HOLMES 2 MOVIE AND ITS APPLICATION IN TEACHING READING

Abstract


The aims of this study are to describe the Woman characters and characteristics in  Enola Holmes 2 movie, the types of feminism in Enola Holmes 2 movie, and its application in teaching reading. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive method to describe the woman characters and feminism in Enola Holmes 2 movie by observing the original documents of the Enola Holmes 2 movie. The results of this study indicate that there are several woman characters in Enola Holmes 2 movie including Enola Holmes, Eudoria Holmes, Sarah Chapman, Bessie Chapman, Mae, Mira Troy. In addition to woman characters, the researchers found 12 data that adhere to feminism, the categories of feminism found in this study are 4 liberal feminism (33.3%), 2 radical feminism (17.7%), 3 Marxist & socialist feminism (25%), 2 ecofeminism (17.7%), 1 existential feminism (8.3%). This movie is worth applying in teaching reading using review text. Using movies as a medium to teach review text in reading learning can make the learning process more interesting and interactive. The researchers suggest that this study can be used as a source and motivation to the teacher and student in teaching reading.
