THE EFFECTIVENES OF USING TWO STAY TWO STRAY (TSTS) METHOD FOR TEACHING NARATIVE TEXT FOR IMPROVING READING COMPREHENSION IN THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA N 6 PURWOREJOIN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2012/2013

Abstract


This study is aimed at improving comprehension of narrative text at the eleventh grade studets of SMA N 6 Purworejo. First, to know students reading ability after being taught using TSTS method. Second, to find out the effectiveness of using TSTS method in improving reading comprehension especially in narative text. TSTS method is one of cooperative Learning  with the aim that students can work  together , be responsible, to help each other solving problems and encourage each other to improve reading comprehension. The computation result of t-test was 4.36 the critical value of t was 1.99 for a = 5% and df = 70.Because t-value was higher than the critical value of t (4.36>1.99), Ho is refused and Ha or Ha alternative is accepted. Thus, that ,hypothesis stated that “ there is effectiveness of using Two Stay and Two Stray (TSTS) for teaching narrative text for improving Reading Comprehension at the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA N 6 Purworejo in the academic year of 2012/2013 is accepted.
