THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING MOVIE MAKER MEDIA IN TEACHING SHORT FUNCTIONAL TEXT TO DEVELOP READING COMPREHENSION AT THE SECOND GRADE STUDENTS OF MA AN NAWAWI 02 SALAMAN IN THE ACADEMIC OF YEAR 2012/2013
Abstract
This research is quantitative research by using pre-experimental method. The aim of the research is to find out whether movie maker media to develop the students’ reading comprehension in short functional text is effective or not at the second grade students of MA An Nawawi 02 Salaman in the academic year of 2012/2013. The population of the research was the second grade students of MA An Nawawi 02 Salaman by taking the sample from the one class. It consisted of 38 students. This research used the saturated sampling. In short, the use of movie maker media is effective. It could be proven by the computation of the t-test. The computation showed that the t-value was higher than t-table. The t-value was 6,14; also, the t-table which used 5% (0.05) alpha level significance was 2.026. It meant that 6.14>2.026. Besides, the mean score of post test was raised after given the treatment from 65.37 to 73.05. Hence, using movie maker media is effective in teaching short functional text to develop reading comprehension.
