The Effectiveness of Four Square Writing Method to Improve Writing Skill in Descriptive Text of the Seventh Grade Students at SMP Muhamadiyah Purworejo in the Academic Year 2012/2013

Abstract


The objective of the research are to find out the level of the students’ writing skill by using Four Square Writing Method and to know whether teaching writing of descriptive text by using Four-Square Writing Method was effective or not for the seventh of grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Purworejo in the Academic year of 2012/2013. Four Square Writing Method is a visual method that helps the students to organize the text well and to develop their ideas in writing. The result of pre-test before the researcher gave the treatment was 54.83, and the result of post-test after the researcher gave the treatment was 77.83. The result of t-test value is 10.28. The t-test value is higher than t-table. It means that using Four Square Writing Method is effective to improve writing skill on descriptive text at the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Purworejo in the academic year of 2012/ 2013.
