THE STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN IDENTIFYING INDEPENDENT CLAUSES AND DEPENDENT CLAUSES IN RECOUNT TEXT OF THE ELEVENTH YEAR STUDENTS OF SMA N 8 PURWOREJO IN 2012/2013 ACADEMIC YEAR

Abstract


The objective of this research is to find out students’ ability when identifying independent and dependent clause in a recount text. In this research, the researcher applies a descriptive qualitative research in conducting the research. The location is at SMA N 8 Purworejo. The time  of research was conducted on Friday , May 17th,  2013. The subject of the research is students in XI IPA 3 academic year of 2012/2013. The researcher collected the data used test. It is multiple choice test. The researcher measures how is the great the object’s ability. The researcher analyzes the data by using simple formula to know the students’ ability and error. The data showed  results of the research study, the mean score second year student of SMA N 8  Purworejo is 63,33, and it is categorized fair ability in identifying independent clause and dependent clause in recount text. The errors are are addition 27 (90%) and misordering which is done by 27 (90%) of the students. The rest are omission which is done by 8 (26.67%) students, and misformation which is done by 17 (56.67%) students.
