A STUDY OF PERSONIFICATION WORDS FOUND ON THE SONG LYRICS OF LINKIN PARK ALBUMS

Abstract


Personification is a figure of speech that gives the human traits (qualities, feelings, actions or characteristics) to an inanimate or abstract object. This study investigates the use of personification words involved in the song lyrics of Linkin Park albums. The objective of the study is to analyze the meanings of personification words found on the song lyrics of Linkin Park albums. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. The data were collected from song lyrics on the Linkin Park albums. The result of this study shows that personification words found on the song lyrics of Linkin Park albums have various meaning such as sadness and disappointment, discomfort, disturbance, remorse, position, debt, movement, sacrifice, spirit, dissatisfaction.
