The Effectiveness of Using Word Building Game to Improve Vocabulary Mastery at Seventh Grade Students of SMP N 2 Kutowinangun in the Academic Year Of 2012/2013

Abstract


This study is aimed at improving vocabulary mastery at seventh grade students of  SMP N 2 Kutowinangun. First, to know students’ vocabulary mastery after being taught by Word Building Game. Second, to find out whether the use of Word Building Game is effective or not to improve students’ vocabulary mastery. Word Building Game is a fun spelling game for young learners to improve students’ vocabulary mastery. The result of the research shows that the mean score of experimental group is 70, and it is categorized good. The mean score of control group is 64.21, and it is categorized sufficient. The result of t-test value is 3.080. The t-test value is higher than t-table. It means that using Word Building Game is effective to improve vocabulary mastery at seventh grade students of SMP N 2 Kutowinangun in the academic year of 2012/ 2013.
