THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING WORD WALL TO INCREASE VOCABULARY MASTERY AT THE FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SDN 1 BRENGKELAN PURWOREJO IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2012/2013

Abstract


The design of the research is pre-experimental research. The word wall media has a great role to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. It has been proved by analyzing the data from pre-test and post-test. The mean score of the students’ vocabulary in the post-test is 82.5. It increased from 57.92 in the pre-test result. After analyzing the data, the researcher concludes that teaching vocabulary using mind word wall media is effective. As a matter of fact, the result of t-value is 10.06 based on the 0.05 significant level, the value of t-table is 1.174. The result of computation shows that t-value is higher than t-table, that is 10.06>1.174. So, it can be stated that the hypothesis “the use of word wall for teaching vocabulary at fourth grade students of SD N 1 Brengkelan Purworejo in the academic year 2012/2013 is effective” is accepted.
