THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SIMULATION TECHNIQUE IN IMPROVING SPEAKING SKILL OF THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMK NEGERI 3 PURWOREJO IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2012/2013
Abstract
The objective of this research are to find out whether there is an effectiveness of simulation technique to improve students speaking skill of the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 3 Purworejo in the academic year of 2012/2013. The type of this research is descriptive quantitative research. In this research, the researcher took two classes as the sample. One class was experimental group and other as control group. Each class consists of 32 students. So, the number of sample was 64 students. While the instrument that was used in this thesis, was test. In collecting the data, the researcher used pre-test and post-test. Before conducting post-test, the researcher gave treatment for experimental group using simulation technique and common way for control group. After getting enough data, the researcher calculated the data using t-test polled variance. Based on the previous computation, the mean score of experimental group was 76.81 and the mean of control group was 71.75. To see whether the hypothesis was accepted or rejected, the t-value was consulted to the t-table at the 0.05 significance level. It shows that the t-table was 2.00 and the t-value was 2.76. It means that t-value was higher than t-table, that was 2.76 > 2.00.
